Parents always say annoying things that some how stick with you. One of my moms favorite is "Ye of little faith". Well mom... I fit into that label pretty good.

I'm sure everyone who is in my boat-- all 96,000 of us, know that the promise scholarship was vetoed by Gov. Jennifer Granholm. What a shocker! I for one was holding out on the off chance that maybe she would save it. But nope, that was not on her agenda. She can defend her choice claiming it was hard and she didn't want to do it all she wants to. The point is she still cut it. How can a government expect the upcoming generation to trust them or have any faith at all when they literally turn their backs on a promise they made directly to you?

Taking back that promise was not right. A lot of things about this government are not fair, but this really tops the charts. You do not promise what you cannot deliver.

She had to make hard decisions... but did any of those impact her wallet? I doubt it. The difference is-- she can afford to take a cut, most of us 96,000 can't. So tell me, how hard did she work? What tough decisions did she make?
Sure everyone was asking for money and everyone is hurting right now in these hard times. But, that money she took away was money that was PROMISED to us students.

As a former student who still has seemingly insurmountable loans, I feel for you. I can offer this advice - get ready for more broken promises. Younger generations are on the receiving end of so many of them.
